This article is written by .

The fitness world is filled with myths, especially when it comes to women. Majority of women are made to believe that lifting weights are simply not meant for them. In addition to this myth, there are many other myths or fallacies about women and bodybuilding. The most common myths have been debunked in order to make women realize the facts and significance about certain effective physical workouts. The following paragraphs describe the hard facts of the common myths.

Common Myths on Female Bodybuilding

Myth #1: Lifting weights makes women lose their femininity

Well, this is one of the common myths that a woman lifting weights appears manly and bulky. The hard fact that people often forget is the existence of testosterone is the main cause for manly looks. It is a hormone that is found in the human body of both men and women. The hormone plays a large role to build muscle mass. The testosterone level of men is 10 times higher than that of women. So, even if women try to dedicate time to eat in excess, it would be ten times tougher for a woman to look like a man.

Myth #2: Women should avoid chest exercises

This is yet another fallacy that women should not perform any kind of chest workouts as it would make her breasts shrink. The fact is that a woman loses fat on her breast during the process of weight loss like any other part of the body. Resistance workouts for chest does not reduce the size, but makes your breasts appear bigger as you can notice the growth of pectoral muscles. The pectoral muscles help your body to push out the fat present on your breasts, and make them look bigger.

Myth #3: Eating less for weight loss

Most women follow a strict diet, which ends up looking more like a starvation diet. It may include, skipping your first meal, eating a salad at lunch, and a slice of cheese as your night meal. Well, it does not do any good to anyone. Breakfast has been considered as an essential meal of the day, and if you skip it then your metabolism may slow down. Therefore, eating 5 to 6 meals a day in small quantities is more beneficial to stay fit. Most people are under the impression that frequent eating may end up in gaining more weight. This is not at all true unless you consume foods that are way too high in calories.

Myth #4: Women need only cardio and not weights

If you simply perform cardio then once you curb all the fat, you will begin to burn muscles. Also, if you only perform cardio you will remain skinny and may not have the sexy and fit look. Now, this does not mean that you have to do vigorous weight lifting workouts. You can do light weights, and gain the fit and lean look you want. If you use the right kind of weight, and perform 10 to 15 reps, then you will achieve the results of a perfect body. Do not be hesitant, or scared to lift weights and grow your muscles.

Muscles burn excessive fat, boosts your metabolism, and gives you the kind of body you have always dreamed of.
